Out of Country Access Request

Overview

Students who are traveling or located outside of the United States can request access to Oakland Community College (OCC) systems and resources.

How to Request Out-of-Country Access

Contact the OCC Student Technical Helpdesk to request access:

Required Information

When submitting your request, include the following information:

  • IPv4 Address: Provide a screenshot showing your device’s IPv4 address. To find your IPv4 address, visit What Is My IP Address (opens in new tab) using the device you will use to access OCC resources.
  • Country location
  • Length of time access is needed
  • First name
  • Last name
  • Contact information

Updating D2L Account Time Zone

When accessing D2L from another country, you can update your D2L account’s time zone to match your current location. This ensures that course-related dates, deadlines, assignment due times, and other scheduled activities are displayed according to the local time zone you are in.

Important Note: The automatic time zone synchronization only works perfectly if the student's D2L Account Settings are configured correctly. If the student has manually overridden their time zone settings in their D2L profile or if their device's system clock is incorrect, the displayed time on their screen might look confusing.

Here's How

  1. Sign in to your D2L account.
  2. Click on your D2L account profile in the top right corner.

  4. Update the Continent to the where the country is located in.
