How to to Recaption a Panopto Video

Overview

In Panopto, if your video does not have captions, captions are in accurate, or there is a caption error, you can reprocess the video to add Automatic Machine Captions to the video.

Here's How

  1. Sign in to Panopto (opens in a new tab).

  2. Navigate to My Folder.

  3. Mouse over the video you want to update, then click the Settings icon.

  4. Click on the Captions option from the list of settings.

  5. Download any existing captions to your local machine as backup.

    Please note: If you video does not have any captions to download proceed to the next step.

  6. After downloading the captions, click on Delete Captions option to delete the existing captions from the video.

  7. Under Request Captions section and click on the drop down menu and select Automatic Machine Captions.

  8. Click Order to start the reprocessing of captions.
