Highlighting Presenters in Zoom Meetings

Overview

In meetings with many participants, it can be difficult to focus on the presenter. Using Zoom’s pinning and multi-pinning features allows you to keep selected participants visible so they are easier to see and follow.

Here's How

Step 1: Update or Install the Latest Zoom Client

You do not need a Zoom account to join a meeting, but you must install the latest version of Zoom to access all features, including pinning.

Download and install the latest version of Zoom: Upgrade or update Zoom (opens in new tab)

Pinning

Pinning allows you to keep a specific participant’s video visible in your view. By default, Zoom automatically switches the main video to the active speaker. When you pin a participant, their video remains fixed, even when others are speaking.

When screen sharing is active, the pinned participant’s video will remain visible. You can resize the video and shared screen by selecting and dragging the divider between them.

Note: Resizing is available on Windows and macOS devices, but not on mobile devices.

Multi-Pinning

Multi-pinning works the same as pinning but allows you to pin multiple participants at once (up to nine). By default, only the host and co-hosts can use this feature. However, they can grant permission for participants to use multi-pinning.

If you need to pin multiple participants, ask the meeting host or co-host to enable multi-pinning for you. Once enabled, follow these instructions: Use multi-pinning (opens in new tab)
